Privacy
taal.coach is made for studying with your own course book. This page briefly explains what data we keep and why.
What we keep
Your account details (your email address, or your Apple or Google sign-in), the books and pages you add, the page text, your words' status, your answers, notes and corrections. All of it is tied to your account; other users cannot see it.
Page photos
Your photos are kept privately in your account and only you can see them. If you turn off “Keep page photos” in Settings, we delete each photo once the page is prepared; only the page text stays.
AI
We use an AI service to read your page (words, sentences and grammar tags), translate sentences and recognise your book's cover. Your answers are checked by fixed rules, not by AI. AI never reads your notes. You can correct anything the AI produced; your corrections stay in your account only.
Voice coach
If you use the voice coach, each short clip you record goes to Deepgram and is turned into text; Deepgram does not keep the audio or use it to train its models. The coach's reply is written by an AI model (Anthropic Claude) and read by a Microsoft voice; after the talk, its text is sent to Anthropic to write the coach's note. We don't keep the audio either. We keep the talk's text and the coach's note for 30 days, then delete them; word counts and a short summary per unit stay. We send no identifier tied to your account; if you don't use the voice coach, none of this happens. The coach's spoken replies can contain your own words, so they are stored only for your account and deleted when the talk ends. You can delete the talks' text and the coach's notes at any time.
Your data is yours
You can export your data, or delete your account and all its data, in the app under Settings › Privacy. You can also ask us by email. We don't sell your data or use it for advertising.
